About Elevate Brass Studio

The idea for Elevate has been growing on me over the past few years. For as long as I can remember, I've believed I was born to be a performer. Throughout my life, I’ve played in various bands and ensembles, but I often felt like I wasn’t measuring up to what I imagined a “working musician” should be. I constantly compared myself to the greats, including my teachers who were regularly performing, and wondered what it would take to reach that level.

Eventually, I told myself, “If I want to get anywhere close to where they are, I need to get the horn out of the way.” To me, that meant mastering the fundamentals so well that the instrument would no longer be an obstacle so I can worry only about the music. I became obsessed with learning the craft. I dedicated countless hours to studying, practicing, researching, and seeking advice from friends, mentors, and teachers.

In just a few months, I began seeing real progress. My playing reached levels I never thought possible, and I found myself achieving things I used to only dream about. As I advanced through school and became more involved in the music community, I began to notice something familiar. Many students and fellow musicians were facing the same technical and mental hurdles I had already worked through.

That realization inspired me to start helping others by offering informal lessons to friends. I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed sharing what I had learned. Even more than that, I was moved by the impact it had on the people around me. Friends began telling me things like, “I wish someone had told me this sooner,” or “Why is this the first time I’ve heard of this?” and it made me reflect on whether I had been chasing the right version of success all along.

In striving for musical excellence, I found a deeper calling. I discovered a passion not just for performing, but for teaching, guiding, and uplifting others. That is what Elevate is truly about: sharing the knowledge and insights I’ve gained in order to help fellow musicians reach new heights the same way I did.
